J. M. Kaukola was born and raised in the Midwest of the United States.
Mr. Kaukola's first novel, "The Sword", is a military science fiction thriller, set in a world that is both far more advanced than, and very unchanged from, our own. This novel deals with the consequences of genetic engineering, memory manipulation, artificial intelligence, and the compromise paid between freedom and security. It also contains a lot of explosions. The editor said those were important.
Mr. Kaukola is hard at work on his second novel, a pseudo-Lovecraftian comedy, which he assures the editor, is actually "a good idea", and "totally will work". It should, at least, do better than his previous effort: inserting eldritch horror into random internet personal ads.
